With only 10 days to go until my Show at Islington Assembly rooms ( Sunday 10th March), I am just working on some of my vintage reproduction wedding dresses. I shall be taking both my vintage wedding dresses and my own collection of made to order vintage-style wedding dresses.
This dress named Violette, was originally copied from a lace 30s wedding gown. It’s so nice when I know a little about the original brides. In this case I bought the dress with a wedding invitation, hence I know that original bride’s name was Gladys Violette and she was married in 1932.
I am just putting some finishing touches to the dress, shown here over a satin slip. I have added the cowl neckline and the little gathered flutter sleeve with a subtle French lace trim. I will also add some beading to the shoulders once the sleeve are stitched on.
I chose a very dainty cotton lace to keep it very ‘airy’ and delicate. It will be available to try on as a sample, from this weekend -at my studio.
